Why book with us
VW Transporter Servicing & Repairs Brierley Hill with clear advice.
The Transporter is a favourite with tradespeople and camper owners alike, and we see T5, T6 and T6.1 vans every week, along with Caddys and Crafters. We service them, find warning lights, replace clutches and flywheels, and do brakes, suspension and steering work. Whether you run one van for your trade in Brierley Hill or a few for a business in Dudley, we treat yours as a working tool.
Each generation has its known faults. T5 vans wear dual-mass flywheels and clutches, and the 2.0 TDI can suffer EGR valve and cooler trouble. T6 and T6.1 vans used for short trips clog the diesel particulate filter, AdBlue heaters and pumps can fail, and the DSG automatic needs its oil changed on time. Knowing these patterns helps us go straight to the likely cause.
We test properly rather than clearing a code and hoping. We use professional diagnostic equipment that reads Volkswagen fault codes in every module, and we back it up with live data, so we can see what the engine, AdBlue system or gearbox is actually doing. Stefan built this workshop on finding faults other garages miss, and that approach pays off on intermittent van problems.
Before any work starts we ring you with a clear quote and say what needs doing now and what can wait. Nothing goes ahead without your approval. Racking, ply-lining and camper fit-outs are not a problem for servicing and most repairs. Nick and Stefan have run the workshop since 2019, and van owners from Stourbridge, Kingswinford and Halesowen keep coming back.
We are approved for Class 4 and Class 7 MOTs, so we can test a Transporter, Caddy or a 3.5 tonne Crafter. Vans up to 3,000kg design gross weight take Class 4 and those from 3,000kg to 3,500kg take Class 7. We can usually do your MOT and service in one visit. Call us on 07494 990846. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.

Common questions
- How often should I service my Transporter?
- Most Transporters run either a fixed annual service or a variable interval shown on the dash. A van working hard every day, carrying weight or doing lots of short trips is better on a fixed yearly service with the right oil. Give us your registration and we will check your van's schedule and timing belt interval.
- Does my DSG gearbox need servicing?
- Yes. The DSG automatic in the T5 and T6 needs its oil and filter changed at set intervals. Skipping it can lead to jerky shifts and expensive mechatronic faults. If your van is shifting harshly or the gear display is flashing, bring it in and we will check it before the fault gets worse.
- Why does my T6 keep going into limp mode?
- On a T6 or T6.1 the usual causes are a blocked diesel particulate filter, an EGR fault or a sensor problem. Vans that only do short local runs never get hot enough to clean the filter. We read the codes, check the live data and fix the cause, rather than forcing a regeneration and sending you away.
- Can you MOT a Crafter?
- Yes. Crafters plated between 3,000kg and 3,500kg design gross weight need a Class 7 MOT, which we are approved to carry out. Transporters and Caddys plated up to 3,000kg take a Class 4 test, which we also do. Check the plate in the door pillar or your V5C, or call us and we will help.
- When does the timing belt need changing on a Transporter?
- It depends on the engine and year, and the interval is set by both mileage and age, so a low-mileage van can still be due. A snapped belt usually means serious engine damage. Give us your registration and we will check the interval, then replace the belt, tensioner and water pump together where it makes sense.
- Will an independent service affect my van's warranty?
- No. Under UK block exemption rules you can have a van serviced by an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the work follows the service schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We record every job so your service history stays complete for warranty claims and for when you come to sell the van.
- Do I need to take out my racking or ply-lining?
- No. For a service, an MOT and most repairs we work around racking, ply-lining and roof bars. Please take out loose tools and stock where you can, so we can reach everything safely and nothing goes missing. If a particular job means something has to come out, we will tell you when you book.
- Where are you and which areas do you cover?
- We are on Talbots Lane in Brierley Hill, DY5 2YX. We look after Transporters from Brierley Hill, Dudley, Stourbridge, Kingswinford, Halesowen and the surrounding Black Country. Call 07494 990846 to book. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.
- Will you start work without asking me?
- Never. We inspect the van, find the cause and ring you with a clear quote before any parts are ordered or any work starts. We tell you what needs doing now for safety and what can wait until a quieter week, so you can plan the cost around your work. Nothing is added to the bill without your say-so.
