Why book with us
Renault Trafic Servicing & Repairs Brierley Hill with clear advice.
The Trafic is a common sight with builders, electricians and delivery drivers across the Black Country, and we look after it at our Talbots Lane workshop along with the big Master and the small Kangoo. We service them, find warning lights, replace clutches and flywheels, and do brakes, suspension and steering work for one-van traders and small fleets in Brierley Hill and Dudley.
The Trafic shares much of its engineering with the Vauxhall Vivaro and Nissan Primastar of the same years, so the faults are well understood. Older 1.9 dCi vans are known for gearbox bearing noise, most Trafics and Masters that work hard wear out dual-mass flywheels, and short local runs clog the particulate filter. Later vans add AdBlue systems with their own sensors and pumps.
We test properly before we quote. We use professional diagnostic equipment that reads Renault fault codes across the van's modules, and we check live data to see what is really going on. Stefan built this workshop on finding faults other garages miss. On a van that means less guesswork with parts, and less time with your Trafic parked up.
Before any work starts we ring you with a clear quote and say what is urgent and what can wait. Nothing goes ahead without your approval. Racking and ply-lining can stay in for servicing and most repairs. Nick and Stefan have run the workshop since 2019, and van owners from Stourbridge, Kingswinford and Halesowen come back because we are straight with them.
We are approved for both Class 4 and Class 7 MOTs. Trafics and Kangoos plated up to 3,000kg take Class 4, while heavier Trafics and the 3.5 tonne Master take Class 7. We test them all here and can usually do the service the same day. Call us on 07494 990846. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.

Common questions
- How often should my Trafic be serviced?
- Most Trafics have a yearly or mileage-based service, and later vans show a reminder on the dash. A working van doing high miles, carrying weight or doing short stop-start trips is better serviced on time with the right oil. Give us your registration and we will check the schedule for your engine.
- Can you MOT a Renault Master?
- Yes. Most Masters are plated at 3,500kg design gross weight and need a Class 7 MOT, which we are approved to carry out. Trafics and Kangoos plated up to 3,000kg take a Class 4 test, which we do too. The plated weight is on the manufacturer's plate and your V5C.
- My Trafic has a whine from the gearbox. What is it?
- On older 1.9 dCi Trafics, a whine or growl that rises with road speed is very often a worn gearbox bearing. It is a known fault and tends to get worse until the gearbox fails. We road test the van, confirm the source of the noise and give you a clear quote before any work starts.
- My Master judders when I pull away loaded. Why?
- A judder from a standstill, often with a knock at idle that goes when you press the clutch, usually means a worn dual-mass flywheel or clutch. It is common on Masters that carry heavy loads. We check it properly and tell you whether the flywheel needs replacing along with the clutch.
- Why does my Trafic keep going into limp mode?
- The usual causes are a blocked diesel particulate filter, an EGR fault or a failed sensor. Vans that only do short local runs never get hot enough for the filter to clean itself. We read the codes, check the live data and fix the cause rather than forcing a regeneration and sending you off.
- Will an independent service affect my van's warranty?
- No. Under UK block exemption rules you can have a van serviced by an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the work follows the service schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We record every job so your service history stays complete for warranty claims and for when you come to sell the van.
- Do I need to take out my racking or ply-lining?
- No. For a service, an MOT and most repairs we work around racking, ply-lining and roof bars. Please take out loose tools and stock where you can, so we can reach everything safely and nothing goes missing. If a particular job means something has to come out, we will tell you when you book.
- Where are you and which areas do you cover?
- We are on Talbots Lane in Brierley Hill, DY5 2YX. We look after Trafics, Masters and Kangoos from Brierley Hill, Dudley, Stourbridge, Kingswinford, Halesowen and the surrounding Black Country. Call 07494 990846 to book. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.
- Will you start work without asking me?
- Never. We inspect the van, find the cause and ring you with a clear quote before any parts are ordered or any work starts. We tell you what needs doing now for safety and what can wait until a quieter week, so you can plan the cost around your work. Nothing is added to the bill without your say-so.
