Why book with us

Ford Transit Servicing & Repairs Brierley Hill with clear advice.

The Transit is the van we see most at our Talbots Lane workshop, from older Mk7 panel vans to the latest Transit Custom and the small Connect. We service them, find warning lights, replace clutches and flywheels, and do brakes, suspension and steering work. Whether you run one van for your own trade or several for a business in Brierley Hill or Dudley, we treat each one as a working tool that has to earn.

Transits have a few well-known weak spots. The 2.2 TDCi can suffer injector trouble and dual-mass flywheel wear, especially on vans that carry weight and do a lot of stop-start driving. The later 2.0 EcoBlue has a timing belt that runs in oil and an AdBlue system that can throw warnings even with a full tank. Short local runs are hard on the diesel particulate filter on every generation.

We use Ford IDS, Ford's own diagnostic system, alongside live data testing. That means we can read Ford-specific fault codes, run the tests a generic scanner cannot, and do PATS key programming when you lose a key. Stefan built this workshop on finding faults other garages miss, so we look for the cause rather than clearing a code and hoping the light stays off.

Before any work starts we ring you with a clear quote and tell you what needs doing now and what can wait. No work goes ahead without your say-so. Racking, ply-lining and roof bars are not a problem; we work around them. Nick and Stefan have run the workshop since 2019, and tradespeople from Stourbridge, Kingswinford and Halesowen use us because the advice is straight.

We are a DVSA-approved MOT centre for both Class 4 and Class 7, so we can test every Transit up to 3,500kg. Smaller Transits and Customs plated up to 3,000kg take a Class 4 test, and the heavier 3.5 tonne panel vans, tippers and dropsides take Class 7. We can usually do the service and MOT in one visit. Call us on 07494 990846. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.

Common questions

How often should I service my Ford Transit?
It depends on the engine and year. Many Transits run on a variable service interval shown on the dash. As a rule, a van working hard every day should be serviced at least once a year or at Ford's mileage interval, whichever comes first. Give us your registration and we will check the right schedule for your van.
Can you MOT a 3.5 tonne Transit?
Yes. We are approved for Class 4 and Class 7 MOTs. Transits plated up to 3,000kg design gross weight take a Class 4 test, and those plated between 3,000kg and 3,500kg take Class 7. We test both, so you do not need to hunt for a separate test centre for your bigger vans.
My Transit judders when pulling away. What is it?
A judder from a standstill, often with a rattle at idle that goes when you press the clutch, usually points to a worn dual-mass flywheel or clutch. It is common on Transits that carry weight. We road test the van, check it properly and tell you whether both parts need replacing before any work starts.
What is the EcoBlue wet belt problem?
The 2.0 EcoBlue has a timing belt that runs in engine oil. As it ages it can break down and shed material that blocks the oil pickup, which can lead to oil pressure warnings and serious engine damage. Using the right oil and changing it on time matters. We can check the belt and replace it when it is due.
Why does my Transit say AdBlue fault when the tank is full?
The AdBlue system has a pump, heater, injector and sensors, and any of them can fail even with a full tank. Crystals can also block the injector. We read the codes with Ford IDS, test each part and fix the cause, rather than refilling the tank and clearing the warning.
Will an independent service affect my van's warranty?
No. Under UK block exemption rules you can have a van serviced by an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the work follows the service schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We record every job so your service history stays complete for warranty claims and for when you come to sell the van.
Do I need to take out my racking or ply-lining?
No. For a service, an MOT and most repairs we work around racking, ply-lining and roof bars. Please take out loose tools and stock where you can, so we can reach everything safely and nothing goes missing. If a particular job means something has to come out, we will tell you when you book.
Where are you and which areas do you cover?
We are on Talbots Lane in Brierley Hill, DY5 2YX. We look after Transits from Brierley Hill, Dudley, Stourbridge, Kingswinford, Halesowen and the surrounding Black Country. Call 07494 990846 to book. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.
Will you start work without asking me?
Never. We inspect the van, find the cause and ring you with a clear quote before any parts are ordered or any work starts. We tell you what needs doing now for safety and what can wait until a quieter week, so you can plan the cost around your work. Nothing is added to the bill without your say-so.
