Why book with us
Fiat Ducato Servicing & Repairs Brierley Hill with clear advice.
The Ducato is the big van behind a lot of Black Country businesses, from Luton removal vans and tippers to panel vans on courier rounds. We look after it at our Talbots Lane workshop along with the smaller Doblo and Scudo. We service them, find warning lights, replace clutches and do brakes, suspension and steering work for traders and fleets in Brierley Hill and Dudley.
The Ducato shares its base with the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay, so its weak spots are well known. Heavy loads wear out clutches and flywheels, older vans can develop gearbox bearing noise, and later Euro 6 vans have AdBlue systems that can fail. Vans with the Comfort-Matic automated gearbox sometimes need the clutch actuator or the gearbox settings looked at.
We use professional diagnostic equipment that reads Fiat fault codes across the van's modules, including the gearbox and AdBlue systems, and we back it up with live data. Stefan built this workshop on finding faults other garages miss. On a big van that means getting the right part first time instead of swapping parts until the light goes out.
Most Ducatos are plated at 3.5 tonnes and need a Class 7 MOT, which not every garage can do. We are a DVSA-approved Class 7 centre, and we test Class 4 too for lighter Doblos and Scudos. We can usually do the MOT and service in the same visit. If anything fails, we explain it, quote it and only start repairs once you agree.
Nick and Stefan have run the workshop since 2019, and van owners from Stourbridge, Kingswinford and Halesowen come back because the advice is straight. Racking and ply-lining can stay in for servicing and most repairs. To book your Ducato in, or to talk through a fault, call us on 07494 990846. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.

Common questions
- Can you MOT a 3.5 tonne Ducato?
- Yes. Ducatos plated between 3,000kg and 3,500kg design gross weight need a Class 7 MOT, and we are approved to do it. Doblos and Scudos plated up to 3,000kg take a Class 4 test, which we also carry out. The plated weight is on the manufacturer's plate and your V5C, or we can check it.
- How often should my Ducato be serviced?
- Most Ducatos have a yearly or mileage-based service, with a reminder on the dash on later vans. A van that carries heavy loads, tows or does lots of short trips works its oil and brakes hard, so stick to the schedule. Give us your registration and how you use it, and we will advise.
- My Ducato clutch is slipping on hills. Is it worn out?
- Slipping on hills or when loaded, a high biting point or a burning smell usually means the clutch is worn. On some vans the flywheel needs replacing at the same time. We check it properly and tell you exactly what is needed before any work starts.
- What goes wrong with the Comfort-Matic gearbox?
- The Comfort-Matic is a manual gearbox with an automatic clutch and gear change. Common complaints are jerky or slow changes and the van not selecting a gear, often caused by a worn clutch, the actuator or the gearbox needing to relearn its settings. We diagnose it properly before replacing anything.
- Why does my Ducato say AdBlue fault?
- Euro 6 Ducatos use AdBlue to cut emissions. The pump, heater, sensors or injector can fail even with a full tank, and the van counts down the starts left. Book it in early. We read the codes, test each part and fix the real cause.
- Will an independent service affect my van's warranty?
- No. Under UK block exemption rules you can have a van serviced by an independent garage without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the work follows the service schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We record every job so your service history stays complete for warranty claims and for when you come to sell the van.
- Do I need to take out my racking or ply-lining?
- No. For a service, an MOT and most repairs we work around racking, ply-lining and roof bars. Please take out loose tools and stock where you can, so we can reach everything safely and nothing goes missing. If a particular job means something has to come out, we will tell you when you book.
- Where are you and which areas do you cover?
- We are on Talbots Lane in Brierley Hill, DY5 2YX. We look after Ducatos, Doblos and Scudos from Brierley Hill, Dudley, Stourbridge, Kingswinford, Halesowen and the surrounding Black Country. Call 07494 990846 to book. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 2pm.
- Will you start work without asking me?
- Never. We inspect the van, find the cause and ring you with a clear quote before any parts are ordered or any work starts. We tell you what needs doing now for safety and what can wait until a quieter week, so you can plan the cost around your work. Nothing is added to the bill without your say-so.
